Pages are typically high school students and we are hiring for two positions (Avon & Gypsum).

Under supervision this position helps shelve and organize library collection materials. The position reads shelves, shelf checks overdue items and applies acquired knowledge to help customers locate materials. The work requires an understanding of how the library is organized. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Starting pay is $17.02/Hour, plus a generous retirement match.

Schedule is 10 Hours/Week, evening and weekend hours may be available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• This position is an indirect service provider helping to maintain the availability of library materials by shelving books and other materials, reading the shelves and organizing materials into their proper sequence
• Answers in-person inquiries, helps customers locate needed materials, and refers customers to other appropriate assistance
• Maintains orderliness of public areas

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Develop a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials and library services.

Work Environment

• Performs work under typical library conditions.
• Operates standard office equipment.
• Interacts with other personnel and the public.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• Two years high school education and at least 15 years old
• Answers inquiries, helps patrons locate needed materials
• Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and by listening

Physical Requirements

• Light physical effort required in carrying and shelving books, and in performing other typical library functions
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching and climbing
• Ability to operate a keyboard at an efficient speed
• Use hands to operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move materials weighing up to 40 pounds
• Vision and hearing at or correctable to "normal ranges"
