Role Description The Experienced HRSC Subsurface Specialist will perform day-to-day subsurface investigation work using advanced High Resolution Site Characterization technologies and related optimizing tools. This full-time hybrid role is based in Golden, CO, (or possibly helping start a fourth regional division across the country), with a mix of field work, office-based analysis, and some work-from-home flexibility as project needs allow. Responsibilities include planning and executing field investigations, operating HRSC equipment (e.g., MIP, HPT, OIP, EC, NMR, GWS/Profiler), collecting and interpreting subsurface and PFAS-related data, and coordinating with project managers and clients. The specialist will assist in integrating portable GC data with HRSC results, preparing technical reports, supporting remediation strategies, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance on all project sites. The role may also involve contributing to proposals, presenting technical findings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Subsurface investigation and characterization skills, including experience with HRSC tools (e.g., MIP, HPT, OIP, EC, NMR, GWS/Profiler) and geotechnical/CPT or drilling methods.
- Environmental and remediation expertise, including familiarity with PFAS sampling, vapor intrusion assessment, groundwater and soil investigations, and regulatory frameworks for contaminated sites.
- Data acquisition and analysis capabilities, including using portable GCs or similar analytical instruments, interpreting ppb/ppm field data, and integrating geophysical and geotechnical datasets into clear conclusions.
- Project execution and communication skills, including field logistics planning, coordination with clients and federal agencies, technical report writing, and presenting findings to diverse stakeholders.
- Beneficial qualifications include prior experience on federal projects (e.g., USACE, DoD, EPA, NASA, Superfund, Brownfield sites), a relevant degree in geology, environmental science, engineering, or a related field, strong safety awareness, and ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
