We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Survey Technician or Crew Chief to join our dynamic surveying team. Responsibilities
- Operate surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, 3D scanners, LiDAR, and levels to perform precise measurements in the field.
- Conduct construction layout surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and land boundary determinations with accuracy and efficiency.
- Collect and analyze survey data using CAD software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, Carlson, and ArcGIS to produce detailed maps and schematics.
- Perform utility locating to identify underground infrastructure and prevent project delays or hazards.
- Support construction staking activities by translating design plans into real-world coordinates using surveying techniques.
- Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments regularly to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in drafting legal descriptions, schematics, and technical reports based on field data collected during surveys.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret survey requirements and deliver timely results.
- Engage in heavy lifting of equipment and tools as needed while adhering to safety protocols.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of land surveying principles including topographic surveys, construction layout, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, Carlson, and GIS applications like ArcGIS.
- Experience operating survey equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (Trimble GNSS), laser scanners (LiDAR), levels, and hand tools.
- Ability to perform utility locating using specialized tools and techniques to identify underground utilities safely.
- Solid understanding of trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math fundamentals essential for accurate measurements.
- Familiarity with construction schematics, drafting processes, and construction staking procedures.
- Knowledge of data collection methods for land surveying projects involving GPS surveying and field data analysis skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in high-pressure environments.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and extended periods of fieldwork in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and interpreting technical information.
