Duties
- Act as the primary point of contact for patients, providing friendly and professional assistance via phone, email, and in person.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with insurance-related inquiries.
- Schedule appointments efficiently while managing multiple lines using multi-line phone systems and ensuring accurate documentation review.
- Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting medical history, updating medical records, and explaining clinic policies.
- Coordinate with medical staff to develop and update care plans tailored to each patient's needs while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, managing office supplies, and maintaining organized health information management records.
- Utilize computer skills including to ensure accurate data entry and record keeping.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by providing clear instructions on ICD-10/ICD-9 diagnosis codes, and billing procedures.
- Assist with billing processes including medical collection efforts and documentation review related to Medicare or other insurance claims.
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette while managing appointment scheduling, follow-ups, and patient inquiries with professionalism and care.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Experience in pharmacy settings and pharmacy day to day workflow
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clerical experience including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and multi-line phone system operation.
- Familiarity with health information management standards such as HIPAA compliance ensures confidentiality at all times.
- Proven ability to handle medical administrative support tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
