Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

A Utility General Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks to support operations in, manufacturing setting. This role involves assisting with general upkeep, moving materials, operating basic tools, and performing physical tasks that support production or facility maintenance. Utility General Laborers work as part of a team to ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently, often under the supervision of a lead or supervisor. The job requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and the ability to adapt to different tasks and environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Empty trash bins and take out the garbage.
• Clean and sanitize common areas
• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness in all assigned areas.
• Dust, mop, sweep, and wash floors.
• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness in all assigned areas.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to management promptly.
• Review appropriate production schedules for the line to ensure correct equipment (fryer, popper, extruder, rotor, etc.) setups have been made and appropriate raw material are present for efficient productivity.  
• Monitor all product in process and/or finished to be packed to ensure best quality standards are being met 
• Make sure all materials are properly counted, weighed, and labeled with correct label information  
• Ensure that all partial pallets, bags, containers, etc. are available and accessible as well as having proper documentation such as part number, weights, and expiration dates. 
• Report to supervisor equipment malfunctions, to be reported to maintenance.  
• Ensure that all raw materials are correct, logged, and meet all the customer and Company specifications.  
• Conduct visual quality-control inspections to ensure production process efficiency and that all standards and regulations are being met. 
• Maintain count of items produced and document appropriately. 
• Read pressure gauges, temperature controllers, and other equipment. Perform preventative maintenance as needed. 
• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness in all assigned areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Competencies

• High School Diploma or GED required 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite in addition to knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures. 
• Experience with Food Safety Audit expectations and requirements preferred 
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods. This is essential as the job often requires heavy lifting and moving materials.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and material-handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) is often required.
• The ability to follow verbal or written instructions to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
