Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking an Ink Technician to be responsible for supporting pressroom production with mixing ink to match color targets, delivering ink to press, and assisting press operators with color matching as well as other ink related duties, including inventory management and cleaning. Flexible scheduling options. Specific pay rate based on relevant experience and shift (shift differential available for 2nd and 3rd shift).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare inks, coatings, adhesives, primers, and additives for each stage of press production.
- Maintain organization of Ink Department while keeping work areas neat and clean.
- Maximize press production through consistent target color matching.
- Assist in Anilox selection and color adjustments during approval process and as needed.
- Prepare coverage and ink drawdowns on a timely basis.
- Ensure proper ink viscosities and pH levels.
- Manage inventory of new and “work-off” inks.
- Properly dispose of used inks, adhesives, etc.
- Manage movement of inks and other materials to/from storage, staging, and press.
- Maintain records of ink and other material formulations.
- Assist in research of new products and innovative uses of new and existing products.
- Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to hold objects with hands.
- Superior time management skills with ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Dependable with proven ability to take initiative and follow through on commitments.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal accountability.
- Basic computer skills with proven ability to learn new software programs.
- Professional proficiency in verbal and written English, including ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Excellent color perception and ability to see with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and climb a ladder and stairs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Color matching experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with water-based inks/adhesives.
- Flexographic printing experience.
- Flexible packaging printing experience.
