SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Supports classroom teachers and the preschool director in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 3–5. Works with small groups, large groups, and individual children, including those with special needs or learning delays, while maintaining positive relationships with families and helping with daily classroom operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
Instruction & Child Development
- Creates a positive, nurturing classroom climate and uses positive guidance strategies to support children’s social and emotional development.
- Plans and maintains consistent daily routines and smooth transitions that promote a sense of security and support each child’s development.
- Responsible for developing lessons that support the whole child and align with state standards, Head Start Performance Standards, and Eagle County School District’s mission and vision.
- Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the Colorado Early Learning & Development Guidelines (ELDGs) and Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF).
- Support the implementation of the district's research-based curriculums.
- Assist with child observations and documentation (e.g., TS GOLD, portfolios, anecdotal notes) to track development and inform instruction.
Family & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with families as partners in their child’s learning; value their knowledge and advocate for their goals, strengths, and cultural traditions.
- Communicate with families in culturally and linguistically responsive ways, ensuring all feel welcomed, respected, and empowered in the classroom community.
- Communicate regularly about child progress and provide families with resources, ideas, and strategies to extend learning at home.
- Assist with home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and family engagement events.
- Partner with families to support smooth transitions into and out of the program (e.g., kindergarten readiness, referrals for services, new sibling or family changes).
Program Operations & Compliance
- Help maintain safe, clean, and organized classroom environments that meet Colorado Child Care Licensing standards.
- Support children as needed with diapering, feeding, dressing, and self-care routines.
- Contribute to required paperwork, assessments, and record-keeping based on regulatory agencies requirements.
- Performs other duties assigned by Preschool Director or Building Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Willingness to complete training or coursework to meet state licensing & grant requirements (ECSD supports ongoing learning).
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Colorado driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must pass Colorado State and FBI background checks.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provides all support functions of an Early Childhood Teaching Assistant while also helping lead site operations in partnership with the Preschool Director. This includes coordinating with families, supporting staff, and helping meet program compliance standards (Head Start, Universal Preschool Program, licensing requirements and Eagle County Public Health Department). Specialists often serve as second-in-command leaders at their preschool site.

- Help maintain student files, licensing compliance, and Head Start standards documentation

- All Preschool Assistant qualifications, plus:
- Must hold or obtain an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) within 18 months of hire. Post-secondary coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required or must be in progress at the time of hire.
- Director Qualified with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (or ability to obtain within 12 months, supported by ECSD).
- Basic clerical and organizational skills to support program compliance.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Physical exam within 6 weeks of employment.
Salary : $23 - $27
