Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals navigating behavioral health challenges. As a Registered Peer Recovery Specialist, you'll provides community-based recovery support services to individuals experiencing substance use and/or mental health challenges. The RPRS assist with participants in developing recovery goals, accessing community resources, and building healthy support systems. Services are non-clinical and person-centered, focusing on empowerment, hope, and self-direction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one peer support and recovery coaching
- Share lived experience to inspire hope and motivation
- Assist individuals in developing personal recovery plans
- Support individuals in identifying recovery goals and strategies
- Connect participants with treatment programs, housing, employment, and social services
- Assist individuals in navigating healthcare and social service systems
- Provide information on community resources and recovery support groups
- Conduct outreach to individuals not currently connected to services
- Build trusting relationships with participants
- Encourage participation in recovery-oriented activities
- Facilitate peer-led recovery groups or support meetings
- Encourage peer-to-peer engagement and community building
- Document services provided according to DMAS guidelines
- Maintain accurate and timely records of participant interactions
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Active Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) registration with the Virginia Board of Counseling
- Experience providing peer support in a community-based, outpatient, or residential setting
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
- Participate in weekly supervision and training
- Empathy and active listening
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries
- Cultural competence and sensitivity
- Organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Perform additional administrative and operational duties to support overall clinic performance
Work Environment
Peer Recovery Specialists may work in:
- Participant homes (when appropriate)
- Community agencies
- Outreach settings
- Work may involve evening or weekend hours depending on participant needs.
Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour
