JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled CNC Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC laser cutting equipment to produce high-precision sheet metal components. This role requires a strong understanding of fabrication processes, blueprint reading, and quality inspection to ensure products meet strict specifications. The CNC Laser Operator will work closely with other machining and fabrication team members to maintain efficient production workflows and uphold safety standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines, ensuring accurate and efficient production of sheet metal parts.
- Program CNC laser equipment using CAD/CAM software, incorporating GD&T specifications for precision manufacturing.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on CNC laser systems to minimize downtime.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to determine machining requirements.
- Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Handle auxiliary equipment such as forklifts, cranes, or hand tools to move raw materials and finished parts safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety protocols and manufacturing standards.
- Assist with fabrication processes including welding, machining, or assembly as needed.
- Document production activities and inspection results accurately for quality control records.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience operating CNC laser cutting machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of CNC programming, tooling setup, and machine calibration.
- Familiarity with other machining processes such as plasma cutting, press brake operation, CNC milling machines, lathes, or stamping presses is a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and quality inspection procedures.
- Prior experience with fabrication techniques including sheet metal work, welding, or assembly is desirable.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects up to 40lbs .
- Ability to work safely around heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Candidates should demonstrate strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards in a fast-paced environment.
