Senior Cost Accountant
Seeking a hands-on Senior Cost Accountant with strong analytical and data mining skills to support product profitability analysis, cost accounting initiatives, and general accounting functions. This individual will work closely with operations and finance teams to analyze costs, identify trends, maintain financial accuracy, and provide actionable insights to improve business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed cost accounting and product profitability analysis.
- Mine, extract, and analyze large datasets to identify cost drivers, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and month-end close activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement support.
- Maintain and analyze inventory, manufacturing, and cost-related accounts to ensure accurate reporting.
- Develop financial models and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to improve costing accuracy and financial visibility.
- Assist with audits by providing supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Support process improvement initiatives related to accounting procedures, controls, reporting, and data integrity.
- Utilize SAP and/or Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) to manage, analyze, and report financial data.
