Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor patients' vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track health status accurately.
- Administer medication following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities by implementing tailored memory care and behavioral strategies.
- Support residents with assisted living needs through meal preparation, cooking nutritious meals, and maintaining cleanliness in living areas.
- Observe and document patient behavior and health status meticulously to inform ongoing care plans and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
- Maintain a safe environment by performing cleaning duties and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident monitoring devices safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care that respects each individual's dignity and preferences.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by executing first aid procedures or CPR when necessary; escalate incidents according to protocol.
- Support hospice or home health services by providing compassionate end-of-life or ongoing home care assistance as needed.

Experience
Candidates should bring prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care environments. Experience with patient observation, medication administration, dementia or Alzheimer's care, memory care strategies, and working with people with disabilities—including autism—is highly valued. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance is essential for maintaining confidentiality standards. Additional preferred skills include CPR certification, first aid training, experience operating lifts like Hoyer lifts, monitoring vital signs accurately, performing heavy lifting safely when required, and developing or following detailed care plans. Long-term caregiving experience combined with strong communication skills in social work or nursing contexts will support your success in this role.
