Wastewater Operator

Job Title: Wastewater Operator
Pay Rate: $25-$30/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Overview

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment system in compliance with all state and local guidelines. This role involves monitoring and maintaining system performance, handling chemicals, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring accurate documentation of all operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater systems, including pumps, presses, probes, and other related equipment.
• Perform system start-up, shut-down, and calibrations of pH probes and other monitoring devices.
• Collect and analyze wastewater samples to ensure compliance with permit requirements.
• Handle, label, store, and process hazardous materials for waste pickup.
• Document chemical usage, flow readings, calibrations, system adjustments, and equipment performance.
• Enter operational data into computer systems accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain housekeeping, inventory control, and support safe work practices.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving operational or equipment problems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active Wastewater License (Grade 1–3 minimum; Grade 4 preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of wastewater operations experience.
• Ability to move and handle 75 lb drums and lift 50 lb bags of chemicals.
• Strong computer skills for documentation and reporting (experience with data entry systems/software required).
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, regulations, and permit requirements.
• Strong attention to safety, compliance, and detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
