Overview

Apply technical experience in eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical elds, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.

Responsibilities
    Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and dicult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems in elds of expertise.
  • Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
  • Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
  • Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identied by management.
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
  • Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
  • Prepare reports for external publication.
  • Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
  • Contributes to advancing knowledge in eld of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
  • Can solve complex problems in eld.
  • Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
  • Primary responsibilities include:
  • Engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to:
    • Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
    • Incorporate advanced technical practices to develop solutions for a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements
  • Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Q Clearance is required
  • An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience.
  • MS degree and 12 years' experience.
  • BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience. BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • The following experience/skills are a requirement for this position:
  • The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 15 years' design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities.
  • Candidate must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specications; Failure Analysis; Accident
  • Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
  • The following qualications are preferred for this position:
  • Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
  • is preferred.
  • Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures are preferred.
