Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines, generators, heavy equipment, trucks, utility vehicles, and associated systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair fuel, hydraulic, cooling, exhaust, electrical, and powertrain systems.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on designated emergency back-up diesel powered equipment.
- Conduct inspections and ensure equipment complies with operational and safety requirements.
- Diagnose equipment failures using computerized diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Coordinate equipment repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
- Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Support equipment commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations governing fuels, oils, lubricants, and hazardous materials.
- Assist with inventory management of parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.
- Must be a US Citizen
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical training in diesel technology, heavy equipment maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of diesel mechanic experience in industrial, government, construction, utility, military, or heavy equipment environments.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, electrical systems, and power generation equipment.
- Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment and maintenance software.
- Valid driver's license.
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification(s).
- Diesel Technician Certification from a recognized technical institution.
- Experience maintaining standby and emergency diesel generators.
- Experience supporting federal, DOE, industrial, utility, or nuclear facilities.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- OSHA 30-Hour certification.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills for diesel-powered equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability practices.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple projects.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications, CDL, OSHA 30-Hour, EPA Certifications (if applicable), CPR/First Aid, and manufacturer-specific diesel engine training (e.g., Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere).
