Cost Controller

The Cost Controller is responsible for tracking of costs, controls and compliance relative to a large construction project. The incumbent performs the month end close by preparing, reviewing, and verifying the accuracy of journal entries; accounting classifications; and account analysis along with year end close functions. The Cost Controller will also prepare all cost statements, accounting statements and reports.

Responsibilities

• Prepares/reviews monthly journal entries and month end analyses
• Prepares various exhibits and commentary required for reports issued to management, outside Directors and government agencies
• Accounts for, manages, and reports on the local internal order and capital spending process
• Provides financial support including forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from company budgets
• Makes recommendations and suggestions on best methods and strategies to streamline processes to management
• Prepares reconciliations and analysis on all balance sheet accounts
• Leads and supervises clerical staff
• Reconciles/reviews inventory through the local production reporting systems
• Prepares written procedures on job responsibilities
• Performs monthly allocations and inventory costing process
• Assists with special projects, year-end activities and related duties while ensuring proper approval and documentation of all reports and analyses
• Assists with internal and external audits as needed

Qualifications

• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• CPA/MBA preferred but not essential

Required Skills

• 5 to 10 years relevant experience within manufacturing accounting is required
• Previous supervisory experience is required
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively to meet deadlines
• Critical thinker and problem solver
• Self motivator and ability to work independently
