Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer
Location: Milpitas, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Work Authorization: USC or GC only
Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 potential bonus
Overview
Acorn Product Development is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager to lead and execute complex product development initiatives. This is a hands-on technical role combined with project ownership, serving as a primary client interface for technical, financial, and schedule-related discussions.
Key Highlights

- Work with cross-functional teams (EE, ID/UX/UI)
Required Qualifications
- BSME required (MSME preferred)
- 5 years of hands-on mechanical design and product development experience
- Proven ability to design and build multiple products concurrently
- Strong experience in:
- Injection molding
- Sheet metal
- Machined components
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks (Creo is a plus)
- Experience preparing engineering documentation for production release
- Demonstrated experience in at least three of the following:
- Tolerance analysis
- FEA and/or CFD
- Fluidics design
- Heat transfer
- Shock & vibration
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor engineers across multiple projects
- Own end-to-end product development (concept → production)
- Work directly with clients to define requirements and deliver solutions
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and proposals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (EE, ID/UX/UI)
- Perform engineering analysis and validate designs
- Create detailed CAD models and production documentation
- Interface with vendors for prototyping, tooling, and manufacturing
- Test and evaluate prototypes and first articles
- Deliver technical and project reports
