Position Summary

The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Fabrication Department to ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations are achieved. This position provides direct supervision of fabrication employees, coordinates workflow and scheduling, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence. The Fabrication Supervisor serves as a key communication link between production, engineering, quality, maintenance, and other departments to ensure efficient execution of manufacturing objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

  • Direct and oversee daily fabrication department activities.
  • Ensure workstations operate efficiently and run the correct jobs at the start of each shift.
  • Monitor workflow and production schedules to meet output requirements and delivery commitments.
  • Update production schedules based on the latest work orders and planning documentation.
  • Maintain department productivity while minimizing downtime and bottlenecks.
  • Fill in production workstations when operational needs require.
  • Assist in coordinating workload and resources between shifts.

Leadership & Employee Development

  • Lead daily shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, quality concerns, and department updates.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to fabrication team members.
  • Foster a positive and respectful work environment focused on teamwork and accountability.
  • Conduct employee coaching and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and provide developmental feedback.
  • Assist with interviewing and selecting qualified candidates for open positions.
  • Support employee training and cross-training initiatives.

Quality Assurance

  • Perform routine quality inspections of parts being processed throughout the fabrication operation.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, work instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Identify quality concerns and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering departments to resolve production issues.

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain open and effective communication with all departments.
  • Assist other departments in locating and tracking fabricated parts as needed.
  • Prepare comprehensive shift exchange reports to ensure continuity between shifts.
  • Accountable for daily shift reporting, production results, and departmental metrics.
  • Attend leadership and operational review meetings.
  • Escalate issues affecting safety, quality, productivity, or delivery performance.

Engineering & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in developing and implementing department improvement initiatives.
  • Redline drawings and submit revisions to the Engineering Department when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, workflow, and safety.
  • Support lean manufacturing and process improvement efforts.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees have the proper tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform their jobs safely.
  • Monitor work areas to ensure compliance with company, OSHA, and safety standards.
  • Investigate and report safety incidents and near-miss events.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate production records and reports.
  • Organize and file department paperwork for efficient retrieval and audit purposes.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications and company databases to track department performance and production information.
  • Monitor department attendance, labor utilization, and workforce scheduling.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of manufacturing or fabrication experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, sheet metal manufacturing, or industrial production environments strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Proficient with manufacturing databases, ERP systems, and production software.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production documents.
  • Understanding of fabrication processes, quality systems, and production planning.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent movement throughout manufacturing and warehouse areas.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb as required.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and varying temperatures.

Pay: $24.74 - $27.80 per hour
