Job Summary:
PRV Technicians are responsible for inspecting, disassembling, repairing, calibrating, and reassembling pressure relief valves to ensure proper functioning and regulatory compliance in various industrial environments. These valves are critical for the safety and protection of equipment, pipelines, and personnel. This position involves working in both shop and field settings, using a variety of mechanical tools and testing instruments. Work may be performed on customer sites or in a valve repair facility and requires a strong commitment to precision, safety, and quality.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Duties/Responsibilities:
• Disassemble valves for inspection, cleaning, and repair in accordance with OEM guidelines and industry standards.
• Test and calibrate pressure relief valves using certified test equipment to ensure proper set pressures and reseating.
• Perform valve repairs, including machining, lapping, and component replacement, as needed.
• Document all maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing activities clearly and accurately.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics to perform proper procedures.
• Install or remove valves from service locations and assist with field service repairs when required.
• Operate lifting and handling equipment safely for valve transport and rigging.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain tools, test stands, PPE, and work areas.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, including participation in pre-job safety meetings and hazard analysis.
• Report any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or job-related issues to supervision promptly.
• Perform quality control checks to ensure valves meet certification and performance standards.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and customers to complete jobs accurately and on schedule.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of pressure control systems.
• Proficient in using tools such as torque wrenches, grinders, test gauges, and calibration devices.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Attention to detail and commitment to precision work.
• Working knowledge of safety procedures, PPE use, and applicable industry codes (ASME, NBIC, API).
• Basic computer skills for completing test reports and documentation.
• Ability to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with industrial or oilfield valve systems preferred.
Education and Experience:
Basic:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a drug screen, MVR check, and background check pursuant to local, state, and federal regulations.
Preferred:
• Prior experience in valve testing, repair, or mechanical maintenance roles
• Knowledge of ASME Code Section I, Section VIII, and VR stamp requirements.
• Technical or vocational training in mechanics or instrumentation.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Previous Roustabout experience preferred.

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time, unassisted. The incumbent must wear a respirator when required. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate industrial machinery are required. This job also requires full range of body motion to include handling and lifting. The incumbent must repeatedly lift and/or move up to 65 (SIXTY-FIVE) pounds unassisted. Visual acuity, hearing, speaking, reading, and writing must be adequate to perform all required tasks in a safe manner.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is usually done outdoors and sometimes at a client facility or job site and is frequently performed in inclement and/or extreme weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to electricity, moving mechanical parts, vehicles, equipment, and hazardous materials. This position regularly requires long work hours and frequent weekend work.
