Market Research & Product Development Intern – Home Products

E. Living
York, NY Intern
POSTED ON 8/3/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/28/2027

Compensation: $25.00/hour | Start Date: September 1 | Schedule: Consistent, 25–40 hours/week, 3-6 months

About the Role

Learn how successful home products are created and brought to market for many of North America's leading retailers—from furniture and lighting to bath, storage, décor, and outdoor essentials. We're looking for someone who enjoys discovering what's missing in the market and turning those opportunities into products customers want to buy.

This internship is designed for people interested in building a career in merchandising and product development. You'll research retail assortments, identify market opportunities, create product concepts, and support product development from idea to sample.

Responsibilities

  • Research retail assortments through in-store and online analysis to identify assortment gaps, emerging trends, and opportunities for new products.
  • Translate market opportunities into compelling product concepts using graphic design, AI tools, mockups, and presentations.
  • Support product development by assisting with specifications, target costs, sample reviews, and supplier communication.
  • Maintain organized product images, presentations, and development documentation.

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in home products, retail, merchandising, or consumer trends.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly through presentations, mockups, and simple image editing. Photoshop or similar software is a plus.
  • Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Able to work on-site in New York City; this role does not support remote work.

Why Join E. Living?

  • Work on products developed for many of North America's leading retailers.
  • Learn every stage of the product development process—from market research to finished product.
  • Build practical experience in merchandising, market research, AI, graphic design, and product development.
  • Work directly with experienced industry leaders in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
  • High-performing interns will be considered for future full-time opportunities.

If you can't walk through Target, HomeGoods, or Container Store without wondering why a product is priced, packaged, or merchandised the way it is, we'd love to meet you.
