Guest Advocate

Hours & Location: Hours vary based on program needs and schedule.
Position Overview:
The Guest Advocate plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, structure, and supportive
environment of E.L.I.'s House. This position involves overseeing guest routines, conducting
safety checks, supporting guests in crisis situations, and ensuring that facility policies are
followed. The Guest Advocate also provides light administrative support, facility upkeep, and
guest engagement, serving as a key point of contact during shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Support:
• Assist guests with pre-planned routines (evening and morning).
• Conduct room checks and assists with guest room inspections and searches, as needed.
• Monitor guest activity and ensure close supervision, including proper documentation.
• Oversee self-administered medications per established guidelines.
• Watch for behavior changes indicating potential crisis situations; promptly notify Family
Support Specialist or other leadership.
• Respond to guests in distress using non-threatening, trauma-informed approaches.
• Apply de-escalation techniques effectively during emotionally charged situations.
• Document and report any concerning behaviors, incidents, or health-related observations.
• Maintain a tidy, clutter-free environment (e.g., remove old food, keep kitchen and
common areas organized).
• Restock supplies in kitchen and linen closets; organize cabinets, closets, and playroom
storage.
• Review and maintain daily schedules meticulously.
Facility Maintenance:
• Conduct regular walk-throughs to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and secure.
• Report maintenance or security concerns immediately.
• Complete assigned cleaning tasks and nightly household inventory checks.
• Organize and maintain storage areas, place incoming packages in proper locations.
• Conduct resident searches (individuals and belongings) upon every re-entry to the
facility.
Administrative Support:
• Provide administrative assistance to daytime staff, as needed.
• Document shift details thoroughly at the end of every shift, noting guest interactions,
incidents, facility updates, and other relevant observations.
• Welcome and assist guests and volunteers in the absence of the Community Support &
Logistics Coordinator.
• Write thank-you notes or special acknowledgments to volunteers and donors on behalf of
E.L.I.'s House.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Support weekend and special activities, as needed.
• Administer urine drug screenings under the direction of the Family Support Specialist.
• Monitor and care for household pets, ensuring their needs are met.
• Maintain guest confidentiality and uphold high ethical and professional standards.
• Attend trauma-informed care training sessions.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the Resident Care Coordinator or other leadership.
