General Description: Responsible for implementing reliability-centered maintenance strategies to optimize equipment performance, reduce costs, and maintain productivity. Duties include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure operational efficiency.
Plan and Prepare
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
- Estimate costs to repair machinery, equipment, or building structures.
- Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
Inspection and Diagnosis
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
Repair and Installation
- Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
- Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
- Align and balance new equipment after installation.
- Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools.
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Maintain structural integrity and functionality of all buildings and facilities by performing routine inspections, repairs, and upkeep to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
Documentation and Support
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
- Assist Mechanic when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of diversified maintenance experience.
- Proficiency in MIG and stick welding.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring devices.
- Technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and electrical systems.
- Basic computer skills for researching parts and equipment.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
- Able to stoop, kneel, push, pull, twist and lift/carry up to 70 pounds.
- Enter/work in confined spaces,
- Climb ladders/unafraid of heights up to 45 feet.
- Walk on uneven surfaces/unpaved ground.
- 20/20 vision with corrective lenses if necessary.
Work Environment
- This position involves working in a production manufacturing setting, including outdoor open-air buildings.
- Conditions are dusty and dirty, requiring adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening prior to the start date. A physical examination must be completed within six (6) weeks of the employee’s start date to confirm ability to meet job-related physical demands.
