Duties
- Install, service, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems in commercial and residential properties.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R (refrigeration) equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend system lifespan.
- Troubleshoot electrical components using tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults in wiring or control systems.
- Perform plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems, including pipe repairs, fittings, and drainage issues.
- Repair appliances associated with property maintenance that involve refrigeration or heating components.
- Operate welding equipment for custom fabrication or repair of ductwork and metal components.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations when handling refrigerants like ammonia or other hazardous materials.
- Maintain detailed service records, reports, and logs for all work performed.
- Assist with field service operations by traveling to various sites promptly to address urgent issues or scheduled maintenance needs.
Skills
- Extensive mechanical knowledge of HVAC systems including heating units, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.
- Proven experience as a service technician with a focus on HVAC/R systems in construction or property maintenance environments.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents accurately for effective troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of plumbing principles related to HVAC applications.
- Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems and handling hazardous refrigerants safely.
- Skilled in equipment repair techniques including welding, electrical diagnostics, and component replacement.
- Experience with appliance repair within commercial or residential settings is a plus.
- Knowledge of field service procedures including customer communication and documentation practices.
- Competence in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing.
- Ability to operate a
driver vehicle safely for site visits across multiple locations. - Mechanical experience with boilers and other heating equipment is highly desirable.
- Basic welding skills for ductwork fabrication or repair tasks.
