Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Worker to provide support and care to individuals with various mental health conditions. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing treatment plans, managing behavioral challenges, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients. This role involves working closely with individuals experiencing developmental disabilities, autism, PTSD, addiction issues, and other behavioral health concerns. The Mental Health Worker will play a vital role in fostering a supportive environment that promotes recovery and stability.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily activities and behavioral management strategies to promote independence and well-being
- Monitor and record vital signs, medical documentation, and behavioral progress using HIPAA-compliant systems
- Support crisis intervention and crisis management efforts to ensure client safety during emergencies
- Administer medication as prescribed, following all medical terminology protocols and medication administration procedures
- Conduct intake assessments and collect data for ongoing treatment planning and progress tracking
- Implement applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques for clients with autism or developmental disabilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, special education professionals, and medical staff
- Maintain accurate medical records and document client interactions in accordance with healthcare regulations
- Support clients with PTSD care, addiction counseling, and other specialized behavioral health needs
- Assist in the development of individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health conditions preferred
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, crisis management, behavior management, and medication administration
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, data collection, and HIPAA compliance
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including those with disabilities or special needs
- Certification or training in social work, applied behavior analysis (ABA), or related fields is a plus
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally while maintaining client safety
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support mental health recovery and patient care
