Technical Business Analyst Manager
The Technical Business Analyst Manager (TBAM) plays a pivotal role in the organization by serving as both a hands-on technical contributor and a people manager in the development of technical data products, including a portfolio of API solutions. Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Project Managers, Engineering Leads, and other members of the product organization, the TBAM is responsible for the deep and comprehensive analysis, definition, communication, and governance of requirements for technical products.
The TBAM provides leadership to the Business Analysis function, ensuring high-quality requirements, consistent methodologies, and strong alignment between business objectives and technical execution. Acting as a bridge between technical and business teams, this role combines strong analytical skills, technical acumen, and managerial capability to deliver solutions on time and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical & Analytical Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analyses of stakeholder requirements for APIs and other technical data products.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs, challenges, and business objectives, translating them into detailed technical solutions.
- Define clear and concise functional and technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with architectural standards and best practices.
- Create impact assessments to determine how requirements affect customers, business operations, and technical systems.
- Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring alignment, clarity, and timely delivery of solutions.
- Produce and maintain API documentation, process maps, business logic flows, flowcharts, and diagrams.
- Provide recommendations for system, process, and product evolution in coordination with Product and BA leadership.
- Coordinate with QA teams to validate API functionality against requirements.
- Assist in the development of test cases and support QA efforts to ensure requirements are met.
- Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to API functionality and performance in coordination with engineering and support teams.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the API development lifecycle.
- Maintain awareness of industry standards, trends, methodologies, and best practices.
Managerial & Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support Business Analysts and Technical Business Analysts, including onboarding, coaching, and ongoing skill development.
- Establish and enforce standards for requirements documentation, analysis practices, and tooling.
- Review and approve analyst deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with business and technical goals.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Project Management leadership to prioritize initiatives and manage dependencies.
- Facilitate requirements workshops, backlog refinement sessions, and cross-functional planning meetings.
- Support capacity planning, workload balancing, and resource allocation for the Business Analysis team.
- Contribute to performance feedback, goal setting, and professional development planning for team members.
- Act as an escalation point for complex requirement, scope, or stakeholder alignment issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Business Analysis function.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and a high-performance team culture.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of related experience, including at least three years as a Business Analyst in a technical or software development environment.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, YAML/Markdown, data structures, and data integration concepts.
- Demonstrated proficiency with API tools such as Postman, Swagger, Apigee, or similar.
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a lead or managerial Business Analyst role.
- Agency, consulting, or client-facing experience.
- Experience working in SaaS, finance, banking, or similarly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or other modern delivery methodologies.
- Familiarity with enterprise software development processes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as PHP, Java, or JavaScript.
