Purpose of Position: The Concrete Paving Superintendent provides oversight of and manages our concrete paving projects/crews. This includes scheduling, planning, organizing, and managing resources to ensure the successful and timely completion of projects while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety regulations. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in heavy highway construction, particularly in concrete paving operations and Airport paving operations. This position is intended to cover our Southern work areas and will involve travel
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Safety Compliance:
- Uphold and enforce a safety-first culture, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a safe working environment, to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Collaborate with Leadership Teams and other stakeholders to adhere to project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Quality focused
- Analyze project specifications and plans to understand concrete requirements.
- Analyzing cost reports to ensure compliance with or surpassing budget constraints
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Assist in the preparation of an initial construction schedule and review and revise as appropriate throughout the construction process.
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Provide firm leadership to ensure that we are performing work in a cost-effective manner and not being pushed into performing work out of sequence
- Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including concrete workers and other personnel, while demonstrating a deep understanding of paving techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with project plans.
- Coach, develop, and mentor personnel to be future leaders in the organization
- Provide supervision and direction of multiple crews throughout the E&B footprint
- Quality Control:
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of concrete work.
- Provide direct oversight to identify and address any deviations from specifications.
- Resource Management:
- Coordinate the delivery of concrete materials, equipment, and tools to the construction site.
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Communication:
- Maintain open and effective communication with all individuals involved with the Projects
- Provide regular project updates, progress reports, and address any issues that may arise.
- Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve challenges or obstacles that may impact the progress of the concrete construction project.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to find practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Documentation:
- Keep detailed records of project activities, including daily reports, work orders, and material deliveries.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of project documentation.
- Ensure all incidents and near misses are promptly reported and investigated.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in heavy highway construction, with a focus on concrete paving.
- In-depth knowledge of concrete construction processes, materials, equipment, and concrete paving techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and MS Office package (Excel, Word, and Project), G Suite product (Sheets, Docs, Gmail). Knowledge of scheduling software is preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and project specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Time management skills to ensure projects are completed within deadlines.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in outdoor construction environments.
