Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Utility Line Locator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking the location of underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a commitment to safety, as well as the ability to work independently in various outdoor environments.
This particular position will be a temporary position starting in April and ending in October. The position could become permanent depending on demand.
Responsibilities
- Utilize specialized equipment to locate and mark underground utility lines, including water, gas, electric, and telecommunications.
- Interpret blueprints and site plans to determine the layout of utilities.
- Conduct field surveys to assess site conditions and identify potential hazards.
- Collaborate with construction teams to provide accurate utility information before excavation begins.
- Maintain detailed records of utility locations and any changes made during the locating process.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices while working on construction sites.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and backhoes as needed for utility locating tasks.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients and team members.
Experience
- Proven experience in utility locating or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, land surveying, and cabling techniques is advantageous.
- Previous experience in field service or as a service technician is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction site operations and safety protocols is essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required for accurate utility identification.
