Role Description This full-time Estimator role is an on-site position based in Bryn Mawr, PA. The Estimator will review architectural plans, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for custom residential construction. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Prepare detailed work authorizations and scopes of work for custom home and renovation projects.
- Process and price change orders, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers for accurate cost input.
- Develop and maintain project budgets and cost estimates from preconstruction through completion.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids.
- Review architectural drawings and specifications to identify scope, quantities, and potential cost impacts.
- Track project costs against budget and flag variances.
- Collaborate closely with project managers/superintendents and the design team to keep pricing aligned with client selections.
- Maintain organized, up-to-date documentation for all estimates, authorizations, and change orders.
Qualifications
- Experience estimating for custom home building or high-end residential renovation (luxury/high-end preferred)
- Demonstrated track record with vendor and subcontractor coordination, bid comparison, and negotiation of pricing and terms.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
- Proficiency with estimating and project management software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Skilled in time management, organization, and attention to detail to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with superintendents, project managers and external partners.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
