Position: Millwork & Cabinet Shop Estimator

Reports To: Senior Estimator or Operations Manager
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm (or as assigned)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Millwork & Cabinet Shop Estimator prepares accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for commercial millwork, casework, and architectural woodwork projects. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, material knowledge, and the ability to translate architectural drawings into complete cost proposals.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project takeoffs — Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings and specifications.
- Material costing — Identify required materials and obtain vendor pricing.
- Labor estimating — Calculate fabrication, machining, assembly, finishing, and installation labor.
- RFIs – Prepare and submit Requests for Information when drawings or specifications are unclear.
- Innergy estimating workflows — Build estimates, manage bid packages, and maintain scope clarity directly within the Innergy platform after program integration.
- Bid preparation — Develop complete proposals including inclusions, exclusions, alternates, and clarifications.
- Value engineering — Recommend cost‑saving alternatives while maintaining design intent.
- Vendor coordination — Communicate with suppliers for pricing, lead times, and material options.
- Change order pricing — Prepare cost impacts for scope changes.
- Job costing — Track estimated vs. actual costs, update cost libraries, and support accurate forecasting.
- Scheduling visibility — Collaborate with project management and production to ensure estimates reflect real shop capacity.
- Bid tracking — Maintain logs of bids, awarded projects, and follow‑ups.
- Site condition review — Evaluate installation requirements and field conditions.
- Pre-Construction Support – Support early-stage project setup by assisting with contract review, identifying scope gaps, and preparing submittal packages in coordination with project management.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of experience in commercial millwork, architectural woodwork, or cabinetry estimating or similar capacity.
- Strong ability to read architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency with takeoff tools and spreadsheet‑based estimating using MS Office Suite and BlueBeam.
- Understanding of AWI standards, casework construction, and commercial hardware.
- Familiarity with shop workflows: machining, assembly, finishing, and installation.
- High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands‑on experience with Innergy, including:
- Building estimates and proposals
- Managing cost libraries
- Reviewing job costing and production data
- Using scheduling and workflow visibility tools
- Experience with Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or CNC‑driven engineering workflows.
- Background in project management or shop supervision.
- Experience estimating for retail, medical, institutional, or multi‑location programs.
- Experience working within an ERP or project management system.
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to walk shop floors and occasionally visit job sites.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for material samples or drawings.
- Primarily office‑based with regular interaction with shop personnel.
