POSITION DESCRIPTION
DEAP Charter School in Navajo, NM is seeking a Certified Language Arts Teacher to design and implement innovative, mission-aligned Language Arts curriculum for grades 6-12. The Language Arts Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering daily instruction in a student-centered inclusion setting. The teacher will collaborate with other members of DEAP’s Instructional Staff to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities that integrate Land-Based Healing and Learning through the lens of Diné Language, Culture, and Philosophy.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid New Mexico Teaching License or ability to obtain New Mexico licensure.
- Appropriate endorsement in English Language Arts
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven school environment
- Commitment to culturally responsive and equity-centered education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in Indigenous, Tribal, rural, or culturally diverse schools.
- Knowledge of Diné culture, language, and community values
- Experience with project-based learning, experiential learning, or outdoor education.
- Experience teaching middle and/or high school students.
- Experience integrating Native American Literature into instruction.
- Bilingual English/Navajo proficiency.
