Position Summary
The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF) Associate Director of Development is a member of a team working to make a difference in the lives of those affected by dystonia. The Associate Director of Development serves as the execution and operations lead for the development department. This role is responsible for managing the systems, timelines, and coordination required to successfully implement fundraising campaigns, grants, and events. The position supports the revenue development efforts of the Executive Director and Chief Development Officer with strong infrastructure, accurate data, and well-executed donor engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Annual Fund Campaigns
- Develop and manage timelines for 4–5 annual fundraising campaigns
- Coordinate email, digital, and direct mail components in partnership with the Director of Communications & Outreach and external vendors
- Track campaign performance and produce post-campaign reports
- Ensure all campaign elements are delivered on schedule
Events
- Support development events (in-person, virtual, and third-party/DIY)
- Coordinate logistics including vendors, venues, registration, and attendee tracking
- Provide support to volunteer event organizers
- Lead post-event reconciliation, reporting, and follow-up
Grant & Sponsorship Operations
- Maintain grant and sponsorship calendar, including deadlines and reporting requirements
- Coordinate proposal development process with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and contract grantwriter
- Prepare submission materials and ensure timely delivery
- Track grant status and reporting outcomes
Development Operations & CRM Management
- Maintain development calendar across campaigns, grants, events, and donor activities
- Generate routine and ad hoc fundraising reports
- Support list pulls and data needs for campaigns and donor outreach
Major Gifts Operations Support
- Support donor engagement efforts by coordinating meeting logistics, materials, and follow-up
- Maintain accurate major donor pipeline data in CRM
- Assist with tracking cultivation and stewardship activities
Prospect Research
- Conduct targeted prospect research to support active fundraising priorities
- Identify potential foundation, corporate, and individual donor prospects as needed
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, or related field
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Donor Perfect, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar) and Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate across teams and manage external vendors
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work well independently and adhere to deadlines
- The ideal candidate is a self-starter and a creative thinker, can successfully manage a variety of key initiatives concurrently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting fundraising campaigns and events
- Familiarity with grant processes and reporting requirements
- Experience working with volunteers or event committees
Work Environment & Expectations
