Job Summary
The Chemical Operator I is responsible for controlling manufacturing processes and operating the equipment used to manufacture and package chemicals. The Chemical Operator I performs activities as specified in SOP’s or as directed by supervision
Job Description
- Packages product using BOM’s, Batch sheets and SOP’s, paying strict attention to safety directives, process and quality instructions and charge quantities as indicated.
- Conducts safe operation of plant equipment including (but not limited to) forklifts, mixing tanks, reactors, pumps, etc.
- Uses DCS as necessary to control equipment as needed for packaging
- Troubleshoots process problems and takes corrective action. Seeks assistance when necessary. Takes corrective actions when alarm conditions exist. Takes actions necessary in an emergency to help minimize danger to personnel and the environment.
- Works overtime as necessary to assure operating & production needs are met and to ensure on-time delivery of materials to customers
- Assists Operator II and Foremen as needed to produce batches. Actively seeks to learn batch making process techniques and equipment.
- Assists to load/unload product from bulk and non-bulk trucks
- Works safely, following all rules, regulations and policies. Ensures all work and surrounding areas are maintained using good housekeeping principles.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Operator II, Production Foreman, and site Management.
- Job Challenges:

Job Requirements
- Entry Level with experience working in Chemical Manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent Required.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and wear a respirator.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in standard & non-standard situations. (Problem Solving)
- Ability to read and comprehend English instructions (Spoken & Written) and the ability to effectively communicate information to both internal and external parties.
- Prior forklift experience or ability to gain license in designated time.
