Key Responsibilities
- Assist with startup activities for commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Support jobsite inspections before startup to help verify installation is consistent with manufacturer instructions, project requirements, and startup procedures.
- Assist with functional testing, operational checks, and system verification.
- Work under supervision to help identify installation, control, electrical, or mechanical issues that may affect equipment startup.
- Assist with troubleshooting when needed and escalate issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors.
- Review basic drawings, submittals, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations with guidance.
- Complete startup documentation clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Recommend improvements to startup forms, checklists, or documentation when opportunities are identified.
- Communicate professionally with project teams, trade partners, contractors, and internal team members.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Participate in training, technical meetings, and jobsite coordination as needed.
- Develop working knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, controls, electrical components, and mechanical operations.
- Basic understanding of mechanical equipment operation.
- Basic understanding of electrical hookups, disconnects, starters, relays, transformers, and control wiring.
- Basic exposure to HVAC controls and how equipment is enabled, commanded, safetied, and monitored.
- Ability to learn equipment startup procedures and manufacturer requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, equipment schedules, submittals, and wiring diagrams with support.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and project documentation systems.
- Ability to communicate issues clearly and ask appropriate questions.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to quality and safety.
- 0 to 3 years of related field experience.
- Hands-on construction, installation, service, mechanical, electrical, or controls-related experience preferred.
- Ability to work under supervision and follow established procedures.

- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- EPA certification required or must be obtained after hire.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 required or must be obtained after hire.
- Commercial HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, or service experience.
- Exposure to Procore, CxAlloy, Microsoft Project, or similar project documentation tools.
- Basic knowledge of air handling units, pumps, fans, VFDs, sensors, actuators, and control devices.
