Position Summary
Dynasty Development is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing civil construction team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects including site development, earthwork, utilities, paving, concrete, and demolition.
The ideal candidate will have estimating experience in heavy civil construction, including site development, earthwork, utilities, paving, concrete, or similar infrastructure-related projects. Recent graduates with a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field and a strong interest in civil construction are encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, concrete, paving, demolition, and related civil construction activities.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and bid proposals.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Utilize HCSS HeavyBid and Agtek software to develop estimates and analyze project costs.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits as necessary.
- Identify project risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain estimating databases, unit pricing, and historical cost information.
- Collaborate with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the bidding process.
- Assist with project turnover and handoff to operations upon award.
- Support business development efforts through proposal preparation and bid submissions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support company operations and project success.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Estimating experience in civil construction, heavy highway, site development, utility construction, excavation, paving, concrete, or related construction fields required.
- Experience estimating residential roofing, residential remodeling, or other specialty trade-only projects is not considered equivalent experience for this role.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience with HCSS HeavyBid and Agtek software strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating site development, earthwork, water, sewer, storm drainage, paving, and concrete projects.
- Working knowledge of local subcontractors, suppliers, and construction markets.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
