Dynamic Logistics Services (DLS) is seeking an experienced Freight Broker with hands-on experience in trucking company brokerage operations to join our team in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

This position is ideal for a broker who knows how to evaluate customer freight opportunities, bid competitively, source reliable truckload capacity, negotiate carrier rates, and ensure loads are covered profitably.

Candidates must have at least 2 years of freight brokerage or 3PL experience, including direct experience bidding on freight and securing third-party carriers. Experience working in the brokerage division of an asset-based trucking company is strongly preferred.

This is an established brokerage operation, not an entry-level training position. We’re looking for someone who understands the pace of the industry and can contribute their existing knowledge and experience to our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Bid and price customer freight based on market conditions, customer requirements, and anticipated transportation costs.
• Evaluate freight opportunities and determine competitive rates while maintaining target margins.
• Source and secure qualified third-party carriers to cover customer loads.
• Negotiate carrier rates and transportation terms to achieve profitable load coverage.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers across the country.
• Manage load coverage from booking through pickup, transit, and delivery.
• Monitor market capacity and rate fluctuations to support effective bidding and carrier procurement.
• Track shipments, provide timely status updates, and resolve service issues proactively.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate load information, carrier details, and shipment records in the company's transportation management system (TMS).
• Ensure reliable service while balancing customer expectations, carrier performance, and profitability.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on freight brokerage or 3PL experience.
• Direct experience bidding on customer freight and negotiating transportation rates.
• Demonstrated experience sourcing and securing third-party carriers for truckload shipments.
• Understanding of freight pricing, carrier procurement, market rates, and load profitability.
• Experience with dry van and refrigerated truckload freight.
• Existing carrier relationships and the ability to develop additional capacity options.
• Experience using a transportation management system (TMS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Strong negotiation, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple loads and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must reside in the St. Louis metropolitan area and be able to work in person at our Granite City, IL or Hazelwood, MO office.
