Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support patients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. This role involves assisting with patient recovery and functional independence through tailored therapy interventions. The COTA will collaborate closely with occupational therapists to develop and implement effective care plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in diverse clinical contexts such as geriatrics, pediatrics, and acute care.
Duties
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to promote independence and improve quality of life.
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by occupational therapists, focusing on rehabilitation goals.
- Support patient care across multiple settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits.
- Monitor patient progress and document responses to therapy interventions accurately in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, safety measures, and adaptive techniques for daily activities.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of therapy equipment and treatment areas to ensure a safe environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans that address patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
Experience
- Prior experience in home health, acute care, outpatient clinics, or skilled nursing facilities is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Familiarity with care planning processes and documentation standards for medical imaging, inpatient care, outpatient services, and clinic settings.
- Proven ability to assist with ADLs and support patient-centered care plans effectively.
- Previous exposure to medical environments involving inpatient or outpatient therapy services is advantageous.
