opportunityDynamic Minds Academy is seeking an Instructional Assistant for an exciting educational opportunity working with grades 5-8! Our instructional assistants work with our students year-round and have a guaranteed 40 hours per week plus overtime! Instructional assistants are also eligible for quarterly performance raises! Instructional Assistants primary purpose is to provide support to the education program at Dynamic Minds Academy, working within a classroom with the specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of K-12 students. This individual will assist in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during classroom time; and providing information to appropriate school personnel. They may aid in helping the students to maintain focus and attention throughout the education session, assist the student one-on-one, or aid with group lessons at the primary teacher's discretion.
Responsibilities:
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives as well as providing an opportunity for all students to participate in classroom activities.
- Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
- Aiding the primary teachers in helping the students work towards their independent academic goals. Monitoring that the student is making progress and promoting a success oriented environment.
- Promote a fun and enjoyable learning atmosphere, helping students regain their love for learning.
- Supervise children during special area classes and lunch.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Documents and records daily information about the student’s activities, lessons, behaviors, and general well being.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a school setting supporting student instruction, ideally working with special needs students.
- Data management tools, organizational tools, computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Must have at least 2 years of college education or have passed the paraprofessional exam
- Must be willing to have a background check completed before hire.
