DIS is currently seeking a Radiology Technician to join our DIS Health functional area. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare or public health-related industries with a focus on radiology. This will be supporting a VA Hospital on-site in Lexington, KY. This person will possess a keen understanding of federal health agencies' policies, regulations, and structure. The ideal candidate will have a desire and ambition to provide the best-in-class service and support to all of our clients and DIS team members. Someone who possesses the ability to be diplomatic, accommodating, adaptable to changing work environments and project scopes.

Essential Duties

• Patient preparation:
  • Assessing patient medical history, explaining procedures, positioning patients accurately for imaging based on exam type.
• Image acquisition:
  • Operating imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, adjusting technical parameters as needed.
• Radiation safety:
  • Following strict radiation safety protocols, including shielding patients and monitoring radiation exposure levels.
• Quality control:
  • Performing routine quality assurance checks on imaging equipment to maintain accuracy.
• Patient care:
  • Providing comfort and support to patients during procedures, addressing any concerns or questions.
• Documentation:
  • Accurately recording patient information, imaging findings, and technical details in electronic medical records.
• Collaboration:
  • Working closely with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
• Veteran-centric care:
  • Understanding the unique healthcare needs of Veterans, including potential service-related injuries and conditions.

Complex medical cases:

• May encounter patients with complex medical histories requiring specialized imaging techniques.
• Compliance with VA policies:
• Adhering to VA regulations and standards regarding patient privacy, documentation, and quality assurance.

Required qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Radiography program and current ARRT certification
• Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology
• Excellent patient interaction and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in operating various imaging equipment

Physical

• Frequently required to sit and work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time of up to 8 hours a day.
• While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
• Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
