We are seeking a Plant Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Crown Point, Indiana. This role is responsible for managing daily production activities, coordinating fabrication schedules, and ensuring our shop operates in a safe, organized, and efficient manner.
The Plant Manager will work closely with project managers, engineering, and installation teams to ensure projects move smoothly from design into fabrication and shipment. This role requires a hands-on leader who is actively engaged on the shop floor and committed to maintaining a structured, well-run manufacturing environment.

The Plant Manager will play an important role in helping strengthen and refine internal processes as the company grows. This includes contributing to the development and improvement of production workflows, inventory management practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that support efficient and scalable manufacturing operations.

Production Leadership
- Lead daily manufacturing operations and oversee production associates on the shop floor
- Assign work orders and ensure fabrication tasks are completed accurately and on-time
- Monitor production progress and ensure alignment with project schedules
- Maintain a strong leadership presence in the shop by being actively engaged in daily operations and supporting the team throughout the workday
- Lead by example through reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic that sets the tone for the production team
Manufacturing Oversight & Technical Guidance
- Maintain a strong understanding of shop machinery, fabrication equipment, and manufacturing processes used in daily production
- Support the production team by providing guidance on proper equipment use, fabrication methods, and efficient workflows
- Read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication details to ensure manufacturing aligns with engineering intent
- Ensure production work meets required tolerances and quality standards based on engineering drawings and specifications
- Work with engineering and project management to clarify fabrication details and resolve technical issues when they arise
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Coordinate production schedules based on project timelines and delivery requirements
- Work with project managers to plan fabrication milestones and shipping schedules
- Ensure materials, tools, and labor are aligned with production needs
Inventory & Materials Coordination
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are available ahead of production needs
- Coordinate with purchasing to maintain appropriate material availability
- Support accurate tracking of material usage within the company’s systems (Zoho Inventory)
Shop Organization & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and structured shop environment
- Ensure adherence to OSHA safety practices and company safety policies
- Promote a culture of safety, organization, and accountability across the production floor
Quality & Process Improvement
- Ensure fabrication meets engineering drawings and quality expectations
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, and consistency
- Support continuous improvement practices within the manufacturing process
Field Exposure & Collaboration
- Travel occasionally to installation sites during the onboarding period to understand field assembly and installation requirements; time spent in the field can be up to a couple of weeks
- Apply field insights to improve fabrication processes and ensure alignment between manufacturing and installation teams
Team Leadership
- Train and mentor production employees on equipment, safety, and work procedures
- Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, organization, and collaboration
- Serve as a visible leader on the production floor and support employees in achieving production goals

Requirements
Experience
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment
- Prior experience supervising or leading production employees or shop personnel
- Experience coordinating production schedules, work orders, and fabrication timelines
- Experience working in manufacturing environments that emphasize safety, organization, and quality standards
Technical Knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication drawings, and blueprints
- Familiarity with manufacturing tolerances and fabrication accuracy
- Strong understanding of shop machinery, fabrication equipment, and production processes
- Ability to guide production teams in proper equipment operation and efficient fabrication methods
- Understanding of quality control practices and ensuring production aligns with engineering specifications
Operational Skills
- Experience managing or supporting inventory planning and material coordination
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills in a project-based manufacturing environment
- Ability to identify and implement improvements to workflow, efficiency, and shop organization
- Familiarity with manufacturing practices such as Lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methods
Operational Development & Systems Thinking
- Experience helping develop or improve production processes, workflows, or operational systems
- Ability to contribute to the creation and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Experience supporting or implementing inventory management systems and material tracking processes
