Hydration Aide
M-F (No Certification Needed)
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job. Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other employee at all levels. Must be able to speak and understand English. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. Must meet all local regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Assist residents with hydration by offering a fresh cup of water and encourage the resident to drink. Record intake and report the finding to the charge nurse at the end of the shift. Help prepare residents for meals by proper positioning, washing hands, and placing bibs on the residents, checking dentures and eyeglasses, etc. Assist with providing extra nourishments to residents with significant weight loss, Escort residents to and from dining room as needed. Help feed the nutritional at risk residents on each floor and record percentage of intake in the electronic record. Assist with PM snack to ensure all residents are offered a bedtime snack and fresh water. Report signs or symptoms of dehydration to the charge nurse. Attend orientation and inservices required by the state and participate in training, education activities and staff meetings. Maintain professional competence through attendance and participation in continuing education programs, seminars, and professional programs. Other duties as assigned
Understand, comply with and promote all rules regarding residents’ rights. Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect.

Promptly report accidents, incidents, unsafe and hazardous condition and equipment to supervisor, and ensure that established safety rules and regulations are followed at all times. Monitor environment for established safety, fire and disaster, infection control and all other departmental policies and procedures are followed; and to ensure cleanliness and safety of work and treatment areas. Understand and follows safety and sanitation rules.
Physical and Sensory Requirement (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices) Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, heavy lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to hear and respond to pages; ability to read and write, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, and support agencies, vendors, consultants, ability to read and write in English, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to distinguish smells, taste, and temperatures, and ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to understand and apply training and inservice education.
