Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Supported Employment Specialist to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism, in achieving meaningful employment opportunities. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalized employment plans tailored to each client’s skills, interests, and goals.
- Assist clients in preparing for interviews through coaching and role-playing exercises.
- Conduct outreach and recruiting efforts to connect clients with suitable job opportunities within the community.
- Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and support to ensure successful integration into the workplace.
- Collaborate with employers to educate them about accommodations and best practices for supporting employees with disabilities.
- Monitor client progress post-placement, offering ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed.
- Maintain detailed documentation of client interactions, progress notes, and employment outcomes.
- Stay informed about employment & labor law as it pertains to individuals with disabilities to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
- Participate in workforce development initiatives and contribute to training & development programs for staff and clients.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, or related populations.
- Knowledge of employment & labor law relevant to individuals with disabilities.
- Background in social work, workforce development, teaching, addiction counseling, or mentoring is highly desirable.
- Strong interviewing skills and the ability to assess client strengths and needs effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with clients, employers, and community partners.
- Ability to provide training & development tailored to individual learning styles.
- Demonstrated ability in recruiting, mentoring, and supporting diverse populations in various settings.
- Compassionate approach combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
