Director, Materials, Planning & Logistics

About the Role

As our Director of Materials, Planning and Logistics for EMEA, you will be the operational backbone of our regional supply chain connecting strategic vision with day-to-day execution across inventory, planning, warehousing, and logistics.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, people, and process. You will shape how we plan and move products across one of our most dynamic regions, working together with Operations, Sales, Finance, Engineering, and Product Management to balance customer service, working capital, and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
Strategy and Cross-Functional Leadership
• Translate customer requirements into actionable materials and planning initiatives that deliver measurable results and support plant productivity and quality outputs.
• Create alignment between long-range planning, operational execution, and financial targets.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Product Management.
• Lead transformation initiatives that sharpen planning processes, inventory performance, and operational efficiency.
• Champion data-driven decision-making through robust reporting, analytics, and management.
Materials Strategy and Inventory Optimization
• Develop and execute EMEA & APAC materials strategies that support business growth,
operational excellence, and outstanding customer service.
• Establish and maintain inventory policies for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
• Define finished goods safety stock strategies based on demand variability, lead times, and customer service requirements.
• Lead inventory segmentation and stocking methodologies to improve service levels while
minimizing excess.
• Drive inventory turn improvements and working capital reduction initiatives.
• Govern inventory planning health, excess and obsolete inventory reduction, and inventory
accuracy programs.
Demand, Supply and Production Planning
• Lead the MP&L Planning process to align demand forecasts, inventory strategies, production
capacity, and business objectives.
• Build planning processes that balance customer demand with manufacturing capability and
inventory investment.
• Oversee demand planning, supply planning, master scheduling, and production planning.
• Develop planning scenarios and contingency plans to support evolving business conditions.
• Monitor forecast accuracy and drive continuous improvement in planning effectiveness.
Materials Execution and MRP Management
• Ensure effective execution of MRP and ERP planning systems to support material availability and
production requirements.
• Establish and maintain planning parameters: lot sizes, reorder points, lead times, planning
horizons, and replenishment methodologies.
• Lead continuous evaluation of lot sizing strategies to balance service, efficiency, and cost.
• Oversee raw material planning to ensure uninterrupted production & inventory exposure.
• Develop and monitor key planning metrics covering shortages, availability, schedule adherence, and planning effectiveness.
Logistics and Warehouse Operations
• Direct warehousing, inventory control, transportation, and distribution activities across the region.
• Develop logistics strategies that improve delivery performance, operational efficiency, and cost.
• Optimize warehouse processes, storage methodologies, and material flow.
• Establish clear metrics and accountability for warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and on-time delivery.
• Ensure compliance with transportation, shipping, and inventory management regulations.
Financial and Operational Performance
• Manage inventory investments and working capital performance with rigor and transparency.
• Develop annual inventory, logistics objectives aligned to business goals.
• Lead initiatives that improve inventory turns, forecast accuracy, customer service levels, and operational productivity.
• Monitor and report key supply chain metrics, ensuring accountability for results at all levels.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digital transformation within planning and logistics.
What You'll Bring
Experience and Education Knowledge and Skills
• 10 years of progressive experience in materials management, inventory planning, production planning, logistics, or supply chain operations
• 5 years of leadership experience managing planning, inventory, warehouse, and logistics teams
• Experience in manufacturing and MRP/ERP-driven environment
• Demonstrated success improving inventory performance and operational execution
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field
• MBA or advanced degree preferred
• APICS CPIM, CSCP, or related certification preferred
• Deep expertise in inventory management, materials planning, production planning, and logistics
• Strong understanding of safety stock modeling, inventory optimization, and lot sizing methodologies
• Advanced knowledge of S&OP/SIOP processes and demand planning
• Strong analytical and financial acumen with working capital management experience
• Experience leading ERP/MRP optimization initiatives
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across EMEA and drive
organizational change
• Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
