Dwyer Workforce Development’s (DWD) mission is to provide comprehensive support to individuals who lack opportunity and aspire to pursue a career in the healthcare industry, alleviate a severe healthcare workforce shortage, and improve the lives of seniors and the community at large.

We are seeking a Director of Development who is responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive and strategic development program that advances DWD’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities. This includes overseeing all aspects of the development function, including major donor giving, the annual fund, grant writing and management, and corporate giving.

The Director leads all philanthropic activities that support DWD’s geographic and programmatic growth. This role drives strategy across major gifts, institutional giving, grant development, annual campaigns, and corporate engagement, building a strong and diversified revenue pipeline.

Additionally, you will represent DWD to funders and philanthropic partners, communicate the organization’s impact and growth priorities, and collaborate across internal teams to align fundraising strategies with organizational needs. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, adaptable, and skilled at cultivating/maintaining relationships in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive development plan to support DWD’s short and longrange goals and objectives from a variety of sources, including Federal, State, and City Government, local and national foundations, corporate and individual donors.
  • Oversee the development and execution of best practices in development infrastructure, including programs, policies, and procedures to ensure effectiveness and accountability.
  • Identify, research and vet new funder and collaboration opportunities. Grant development and submission is the initial primary focus for the DWD development effort.
  • Collaborate with leadership and internal teams to align fundraising with organizational needs and new program initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with DWD team members to implement the grant process. Draft, edit, and ensure the timely submission of foundation proposals. Maintain all grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets. Draft compelling progress reports and targeted program updates to funders that demonstrate program success.
  • Develop and execute a major donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plan as well as annual fund campaigns.
  • In partnership with Communications Team, develop direct mail solicitations, donor impact reports, and other developmentrelated cultivation and stewardship materials.
  • Contribute to the development of data management, collection, reporting and program evaluation capacities within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in nonprofit management, communications, English or other related degree.
  • At least eight (8) years of fund development experience with interest in and capability to build a comprehensive development program with a record of proven success in developing, implementing and refining a major gifts program is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant identification, writing, and grant management with proven success. Government grant writing experience is a plus.
  • Experience with creating direct mail solicitations, donor impact reports, and other development communication materials.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel within the DWD footprint as needed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a diverse population.

Licensure / Certification / Registration: Valid Driver's License and regular access to a vehicle required.

Salary Range Disclaimer: $120,000 - $140,000. Actual salary will be based on relevant job experience and work history.
