Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and NC/CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Select proper tooling, fixtures, materials, and machining methods.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring equipment.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments as needed.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve problems.
- Design or modify tooling and fixtures as needed.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
Requirements
Education/Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 5 years of machine shop/manufacturing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year certificate from machine trade school or equivalent technical school preferred.
- Experience with manual and/or CNC machining equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
- Ability to perform machine setups and maintain close tolerances.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills; CAM software experience is a plus.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Regular use of hands and arms for operating machinery and handling materials.
- Frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moving machinery and moderate to loud noise levels.
- Close attention to detail and visual inspection of parts.
