Head of Lower and Middle School Learning Support (Quest)

Full Time - Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm
Compensation commensurate upon experience: $90,000-$120,000

Position Overview

The Head of Lower and Middle School Learning Support (Quest) provides instructional, operational, and strategic leadership for the Lower Quest Program (Grades K–8).  The role ensures that Quest programming is educationally sound, developmentally appropriate, aligned with school priorities, and responsive to the needs of students with learning differences.



Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Lower Quest Program.

  • Lead department meetings, communicate school initiatives to Quest faculty, and represent Quest at leadership meetings.

  • Ensure alignment with Dwight School expectations and PYP and MYP requirements.

  • Participate in Admissions events and partner with the Admissions team to review applicant records, evaluate prospective Quest students, and make placement recommendations.

  • Use student performance data to guide instructional improvement and ongoing program evaluation.

  • Maintain and manage the department budget in consultation with the Director of Quest.

Faculty Supervision and Development

  • Support faculty growth through ongoing observations and coaching with actionable feedback, professional development, and instructional guidance.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Quest to lead professional development and instructional coaching that equips faculty with evidence-based strategies to support neurodiverse learners.

  • Prepare Quest teachers to participate effectively in IEP meetings and impartial hearings.

  • Partner with Division Heads and the Director of Quest in faculty hiring, onboarding, and evaluation.

Student Support 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Scheduling on Quest scheduling for students in Grades K–8.

  • Facilitate communication among faculty, families, counselors, administrators, EAL teachers, and outside providers to support student well-being and academic success.

  • Monitor student progress and collaborate with relevant faculty, administrators, and families to identify and respond to emerging academic, social-emotional, or learning support needs.

Communication, Compliance, and Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation, quality, and timely completion of trimester Quest reports.

  • Maintain documentation and communicate relevant deadlines and documentation requirements to stakeholders for students receiving testing accommodations.

  • Coordinate with the Registrar, Division Heads, and teachers to ensure accommodations are implemented for internal and external assessments, including NWEA.
