The Opportunity
We are seeking an Advanced CNC Setup Technician for our Cedar Rapids facility. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team with long-term career opportunities. The right candidate will work directly with automation, robotics, and state-of-the-art CNC machine tools while collaborating with Engineering and Planning teams to streamline machine setups and improve manufacturing processes.

What You’ll Do
• Perform complete setups on multi-axis CNC lathes using blueprints, digital files, and job travelers
• Prepare tooling, fixtures, and offsets to ensure efficient machine startups
• Work with the Planning team to prepare upcoming setups, minimizing machine downtime between jobs
• Collaborate with Engineering to streamline setup preparation and process improvements
• Calculate optimal feeds and speeds to maximize tool life and machining efficiency
• Support automation systems including bar feeders, robotic cells, and automated inspection systems
• Perform dimensional inspections using standard, complex, and automated measuring equipment
• Monitor part quality and make offset and tooling adjustments as required
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines and automation cells
• Support continuous improvement in initiatives related to setup reduction and production efficiency
What You Bring
• Experience operating and setting up multi-axis CNC lathes from blueprints and digital files
• Experience with Fanuc and/or Siemens controls
• CAD/CAM programming knowledge preferred (Esprit experience a plus)
• Ability to calculate proper tool speeds and feeds to optimize tool life
• Ability to perform dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and automated gauges
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Understanding of CNC cutting tools, holders, inserts, and tool grades
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repair on CNC equipment and automation systems
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Ability to travel occasionally for training (expenses paid by employer)
• CNC programming and skills testing may be required
Schedule
First shift: Mon–Thurs | 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay: $30.00 – $32.00 per hour depending on experience
Pre-employment physical and drug screen required.
