Position Overview:
We are currently hiring a Senior Facilities Engineer to provide on-site engineering support for the OMH Rockland Campus in Orangeburg, NY. This role is focused on the operation, maintenance support, and optimization of central plant and campus-wide building systems, including boilers, chillers, HVAC, and building automation systems. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to interface effectively with facility staff, contractors, and executive leadership. This position is primarily campus-based and plays a critical role in ensuring system reliability, energy performance, and informed decision-making for capital and maintenance initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Engineering Systems Oversight:
o Provide technical support for commercial boiler, chiller, and HVAC systems across the campus.
o Assist facilities staff with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance evaluation of building systems.Building Automation & Controls:
o Navigate and analyze campus building control systems, including front-end interfaces.
o Interpret sequences of operation using system drawings, field observations, and engineering judgment.Maintenance & Operational Support:
o Support day-to-day maintenance operations by providing technical guidance when requested.
o Work collaboratively with on-site staff to resolve complex mechanical and controls-related issues.Technical Reporting & Communication:
o Develop clear, concise technical reports and written communications for audiences ranging from system operators to facility directors and executive agency leadership.
o Document system findings, recommendations, and justifications in a professional and actionable format.Presentations & Executive Engagement:
o Conduct in-person presentations to communicate technical projects, findings, and recommendations.
o Present to on-site leadership as well as executive leadership in Albany as required.Energy Analysis & Financial Justification:
o Apply engineering theory to perform energy savings and loss calculations.
o Develop financial justifications and cost-benefit analyses for recommended projects and system improvements.Contractor & Proposal Review:
o Provide guidance to facility staff during contractor repair activities.
o Review contractor proposals for scope accuracy, technical feasibility, and cost reasonableness.Multi-Site Support:
o Primary support is for the OMH Rockland Campus in Orangeburg, NY.
o Occasional travel to OMH facilities in Poughkeepsie and Goshen may be required as support needs arise.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience working with commercial boiler, chiller, and HVAC equipment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of campus building automation and control systems.
- Strong understanding of building systems maintenance operations and troubleshooting practices.
- Proficiency in engineering analysis related to energy performance and system efficiency.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience preparing technical documentation, reports, and executive-level correspondence.
- Comfortable delivering in-person presentations to senior leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with facility staff, contractors, and agency stakeholders.
- Must have an Engineering Degree
Work Schedule & Location:
- Full-time, on-site position at the OMH Rockland Campus in Orangeburg, NY.
- 5 days per week, 8.5 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
- Total of 42.5 hours per week.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Salary range: $115,000 – $135,000, commensurate with experience.
