About this Job
Semi-professional clerical work, which includes managing the switchboard, payroll, and filing. Incumbent to this position serves as the administrative and confidential assistant to the Long Term Care Hospital Administrator of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, a 156-bed long-term care facility. Exercises independent judgment and personal initiative, which require in-depth knowledge of agency policies and operational procedures.Relieves the Administrator of specialized administrative/clerical support activities on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Serves as receptionist for the Home.
- Ensures the proper and timely execution of correspondence regarding administrative matters, complex and non-routine.
- RepresentstheAdministratorinhisabsencethroughtelephoneand/orpersonalcontacts,assessingtheurgencyandimportanceof situationsaccordingtoguidelinesandpolicyandtakingappropriateaction.
- Accumulates information for the Administrator's reply to requests via telephone, facsimile, and/or written correspondence; ensures that requests for action and/or information are addressed promptly.
- Schedules flights and hotel reservations for the Administrator when attending in-state and out-of-state conferences, conventions, meetings, etc.
- Prepares all reports, minutes, and other related documents for the Administrator's approval.
- Reviews incoming mail, including Federal Express, for the Administrator, noting important dates and/or information requiring his immediate attention.
- Screen telephone calls and visitors, making independent decisions on appointments and calls to be handled by the Administrator or referred to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains the Administrator's calendar of appointments.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
