What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lesson Barn Helper / Evening Feeder position at Duzan Riding Academy?
The Duzan Riding Academy is currently looking for detail-oriented, hardworking, reliable, responsible, and horse-loving individuals to join our team! The horses are pleasant to work around, and the clients are friendly.
Looking for a stable hand/ feeder for weekday (Mondays - Fridays) evening feed and barn chores as well as help lesson kids get ready for their lessons/ properly care for their horse. Hours: Mondays - Fridays 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Responsibilities
Evening Feeds and chores:
- Turning out and bringing in horses
- Hay and grain
- Watering
- Blanket changes (as needed)
- Observing horses for signs of illness, lameness, or injury
- Supervise kids tacking, untacking, and grooming lesson horses
- Misc Barn Chores
Requirements
- Must have at least three (3) years of prior horse care experience, preferably with a hunt seat or dressage background
- Must be able/ comfortable working with and around children/ beginners
- Must be able to handle and help care for 32 horses
- Be 18 years or older
- Must have a dependable mode of transportation
- Must be able to manage time and be adaptable
- Must be able to lift 25 - 50lbs on a regular basis
- Have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and provide manual labor as needed
- Must be able to take direction as necessary
Must be eligible to work in the US. No live-in accommodations are available. This position is at an Equine Facility.
Employees must work in all temperatures and weather conditions. The environment is dusty. A heated/ air-conditioned break room and lavatories are provided. The Duzan Riding Academy is a drug-fee and an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
