Job Summary
The Lead School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services consistent with the role of a School Psychologist, including assessment, intervention, and support for students’ academic, behavioral, and mental health needs. In addition, this position provides targeted support for complex and high-need cases while serving as a resource to School Psychologists through mentorship, consultation, and professional support. The Lead School Psychologist contributes to the consistency, quality, and effectiveness of school psychological services across the district by supporting collaboration, professional learning, and implementation of best practices aligned with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Practice Model.
Essential Functions
1. Provide comprehensive psychological services, including assessment, data interpretation, report writing, participation in multidisciplinary teams, consultation, counseling, and crisis intervention, with an emphasis on complex and high-need cases to support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
2. Provide ongoing, planned, and responsive mentorship and consultation to School Psychologists to support professional practice, development, and service delivery, including modeling and reinforcing adherence to District policies, professional standards, and NASP ethical requirements.
3. Facilitate school psychology team meetings and serve as a liaison between School Psychologists and district leadership to support communication, collaboration, and alignment of practices.
4. Support professional learning by identifying needs, assisting with goal development, and sharing resources, strategies, and best practices.
5. Support the implementation, consistency, and continuous improvement of school psychological services through collaboration and systems-level problem-solving.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Specialist degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a School Psychologist. Have an effective or highly effective summative evaluation rating on most recent performance evaluation.
Certifications & Licenses: Hold valid Florida Department of Education Certification as a Specialist in School Psychology. Complete Clinical Educator Training (CET) within six (6) months of appointment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
• Knowledge of federal, state, and district regulations related to Exceptional Education/Student Services, including IDEA, Section 504, Florida Statutes, and State Board of Education rules
• Knowledge of Exceptional Education/Student Services programs, policies, and best practices
• Knowledge of the NASP Practice Model, ethical standards, and evidence-based practices in school psychology
• Knowledge of child development and evidence-based academic, behavioral, and mental health interventions
• Knowledge of assessment practices, including test administration, interpretation, and behavioral and social-emotional evaluation procedures
• Knowledge of consultation, mentoring, and adult learning principles
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
• Ability to provide consultation and mentorship to peers
• Ability to analyze data and support data-informed decision making
