Dutro Farms, Inc. is a family owned and operated farm, founded in 1975. Dutro Farms began planting walnut orchards in 2008 and is continuing to expand orchard acreage. We are looking for honest, capable self-starters who are ready to work hard and are excited about joining a small team that produces big results.
Purpose and Key Results of the Position
The Orchard Specialist will be responsible for executing day-to-day tasks in walnut orchards.
These tasks include: irrigation, tractor operator, ATV operator, service and maintenance, and general orchard care. As a growing organization, there is room for expansion of duties and responsibilities.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Irrigation
- Fertilizer/pesticide application
- Equipment maintenance
- Pruning
- Operate farm equipment
- Assist with planting and harvest operations
Safety
- Adhere to safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for fellow employees within the regulations of all local, state and federal regulations.
- Seek knowledge of how to operate equipment and tools correctly and safely.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
- Knowledge to operate technology such as GPS systems and fluid monitoring systems.
- Basic knowledge of plant biology.
- Basic knowledge of farm equipment and equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors and managers.
Education and Experience
Minimum
- A valid California Driver’s License is required.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- College Degree, particularly in Agricultural field, preferred but not required.
- Previous farm/orchard experience a plus, but not required.
Work Environment
Work area is in an outside environment with high and low temperatures, high to moderate background noise.
Physical Requirements For Performing Essential Duties
Candidate should be in good physical health, able to work outdoors and maintain a moderate level of physical activity for extended periods.

Hours: Full-time
